During the March spring break, nine environmental earth science (EES) students toured the state of Arizona to examine its rich geological heritage. The research projects of three history majors were recently selected for publication in Germina Veris, the University's peer-reviewed online, open-access journal.
A number of Eastern students commit to student internships as an on-site practical work experience with a company or organization that can provide them with firsthand knowledge of a career field. The internship is usually related to the student's major or is directly related to the student's career interest. They often complement the student's coursework, can incorporate skills and classroom experience into the workplace and assist the student in developing new abilities and skills.
Eastern Connecticut State University recently hosted its annual Scholarship Reception in the Fine Arts Instructional Center. The event brought together major ECSU Foundation scholarship donors and their respective student-recipients. This year students were awarded scholarships, totaling more than $600,000 in financial aid to students of all backgrounds and academic majors.

CREATE (Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern), the premier undergraduate research and art conference at Eastern Connecticut State University, held its inaugural event at the end of the 2014-15 academic year. By providing exemplary students of all majors an on-campus venue to present their research and creative work, CREATE was the culmination of the academic year, as well as the beginning of a new era.
The Psychology Department and Psychology Club at Eastern Connecticut State University co-sponsored the first ever Psychological Science Night on Dec. 10 in the Student Center. Through poster and oral presentations, the event showcased the undergraduate research of 60 students in Eastern's psychology program.
Hundreds of members of the Willimantic community visited Eastern Connecticut State University on Nov. 26 for the eighth annual Day of Giving. Despite the day's inclement weather, Eastern's Hurley Hall bustled as usual, serving up hot Thanksgiving meals to community members who otherwise may not have had one. Several Eastern students volunteered to make the large event possible, assisting the staff of Chartwells, Eastern's food services contractor.
